Traditional Tantra Yoga
Yoga as meditation
What is Traditional Tantra Yoga?
Did you know there is a difference between Classical or Traditional Tantra, and neo-tantra?
Traditional Tantra has nothing to do with 'tantric sex' or 'sensual pleasure'.
Traditional Tantra is an ancient spiritual tradition with the goal of awakening, liberation and becoming one with All that is.
The Kaula tradition starts from the concept of non-duality. There is only The One or The Whole, and everything in this manifestation of reality is part of the Whole. This is beautifully expressed by the Purna Mantra.
Om Purnamadah Purnamidam
This is Whole, that is Whole
Taking away the Whole from the Whole,
the Whole still remains Whole.
What does this mean for our yoga practice?
In our practice we let go of our attachments and conditioning. This means letting go of:
This makes the Traditional Tantra Yoga practice suitable for absolute beginners and advanced yogis alike.
Tridosha balancing series
Traditional Tantra Yoga is a gentle and meditative style of yoga. Yet it is powerful too: we hold our asanas (postures) long. Postures are mixed with breathing exercises and savasana (corpse pose) to fully integrate the effects of our practice. We practice a sequence called the 'Tridosha Balancing Series'. This sequence is culturing strength and flexibility in the body while allowing the body to fully relax at the same time.
